Peter Wadhams is head of the Polar Ocean Physics Group and Professor of Ocean Physics at Cambridge University.He has led 42 research expeditions to the polar seas, working extensively from Arctic submarines. In 2007 on board HMS Tireless he used multibeam sonar to measure ice topography. In 1990 he received the Italgas prize for Environmental Sciences; he was awarded the Polar Medal (UK) and Bruce Price of the Royal Society of Edinburgh; and is an Associate Professor at the Laboratoire d'Océanographie de Villefranche, run by Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris.
